Voice chat was a pretty small announcement during the Roblox Investor presentation. However, it has caused quite a bit of discussion amongst the players! Many are wondering how it will work, and are worried that it’s going to ruin the experience of many games. There’s a lot of questions about it right now, but not many answers! We’ll dive into it a bit with this post.
This post is apart of our Roblox Questions & Answers series. We find frequently asked questions (FAQs), and attempt to find an answer to them if one exists. Just because the question has been asked, doesn’t mean there is an answer to it!
When is Roblox Adding Voice Chat?
As of right now, no one knows when voice chat is going to be added to Roblox. It was only briefly mentioned in the presentation, so there’s no real official knowledge on when it will be released. However, we know that it’s being experimented with. DeeterPlays, a prominent Roblox YouTuber, has used the feature, which means that it is at least in the development phase. So, don’t be surprised to see Roblox implement it in some way, shape, or form in the next year or two.
According to DeeterPlays, it sounds like voice chat will be proximity based. So, when you are near another character in a game, you would be able to talk to them with a microphone and hear them talking. The full features that will be available are unknown, but you can very likely expect to have the ability to disable voice chat altogether if you don’t like it. You should obviously be able to mute people, or only allow your friends to talk to you over the chat.
When it comes down to it, we’re just going to see how Roblox decides to implement the feature!
